Good afternoon, council,
I write in my individual capacity as a 20+ year resident of Menlo Park. My signature block is for identification purposes only and to identify me as a person with expertise in the affordability and eviction crisis in San Mateo County and beyond. I write to urge you NOT to pass the proposed amendment to Title 11 regarding the parking of "oversized" vehicles. At the very least, this controversial matter of extreme public concern should be referred for study. The incidence of our neighbors resorting to living in their vehicles has been on the rise up and down the peninsula, and many of our sister communities are addressing the issue as well. Menlo Park should take its time in thinking about innovative and humane responses to the housing affordability crisis rather than a punitive measure leveled against our most vulnerable neighbors.
Thank you,
Juliet Brodie
