Dear Menlo Park City Council,
I am a longtime resident of Bay Road who lives four houses down from the intersection with Ringwood Avenue.
While safer school routes for cyclists and pedestrians are needed, I am concerned that the proposed changes to Coleman Avenue will simply shift the safety problem that exists there to surrounding neighborhood streets like mine. The intersection of Bay and Ringwood is heavily impacted with school and commuter traffic that will only increase if Coleman becomes a one way street.
In addition to the potential impact on my street, I fear changes to Coleman will create greater vehicle cut-through traffic on smaller streets within the Flood Triangle and Menlo Oaks neighborhoods, jeopardizing safety for all who use those streets whatever the day or the time.
Please consider the possibility of unintended consequences when looking for a resolution to the safety issues relating to cyclists, pedestrians, and residents.
Regards,
Jane Garratt
