Dear Mayor, Vice Mayor, City Council Members, and honorable staff,
I’m Jenny Michel, a native living in D3 on Willow at Coleman, a recovering homeless teacher, public transit enthusiast, and mom of a current 5th grader.
Personal comments:
As previously mentioned, I support our pilot program! For the parking recommendations forthcoming from staff, I’d like to offer an idea to make this pilot work long term.
Given that we don’t want to penalize our working residents who live in ‘apartment row’, I suggest we grant complimentary parking permit passes for residents with vehicles who will be utilizing the Santa Monica, Santa Margarita, Gilbert, and other neighboring public property or streets.
Finally, if they need additional parking permits for guests, those are provided at a discount. It’s not the residents fault that we segregated our zoning to only allow dense housing in certain geographical areas thereby creating the parking and traffic congestion.
