Dear City Council,
I am shocked to see this proposal to build housing on the few small parking lots off of Oak Grove Ave that support our still struggling downtown businesses. Those parking lots are always full and the excess parking needs overflow into the nearby neighborhood. This is not a NIMBY objection. I fully support the need for affordable housing for our teachers and workers. It is a plea to support the small downtown businesses and restaurants and fill the many empty store spaces to make all of Menlo Park more economically more vibrant.
I have to believe there are far more suitable sites like SRI to build affordable housing with additional resources to the low income residents. This does not seem to be remotely good planning.
