Honorable Council Members,
This note regards an appeal of a new office development at 840 Menlo Ave, including a specific request to rule on the relocation
of Draeger's loading zones to accommodate the new development.

Citing the Complete Streets' Commission's recommendation, the staff report recommends locations on Evelyn Street for the loading
zone, to avoid conflicts with people walking and bicycling on Menlo Avenue.
The Complete Streets Commission strongly opposed relocating the loading zone, since Menlo Avenue is well used by people walking
and bicycling. When you walk on that street you will see people of all ages including elders and children, with many people
carrying shopping bags or cycling with panniers/baskets, obviously using the street on the way to do their shopping.
Preventing safety hazards on Menlo Avenue is a benefit for the stores whose customers are walking and bicycling to shop, and
supports the goals of the city in having a safe, comfortable, pleasant downtown area where people can walk safely, including
people who drive downtown, park once, and walk to various stores to run their errands.
As a member of the Complete Streets Commission, I voted with the majority and continue to support the recommendation to prevent
safety hazards.
I urge you to support staff recommendation for the loading zones.
Thank you for your consideration,
