City Council Members
I strongly agree with the majority of Menlo Park residents who believe that the building of hundreds of units on the parking lots on the north side of Santa Cruz Ave is a very poor idea - for ANY specific group of people.
- Santa Cruz avenue (already with many empty stores) will suffer greatly because of this. Our downtown is already an embarrassment compared to other Peninsula downtowns.
- Unfortunately, the folks who will be living in these units will most likely not be shopping in any of the downtown shops due to economics and that will further impact the financial issues to the downtown merchants.
- I understand the ABAG/RHNA requirements (having served 3 times on the Housing Commission) and greatly sympathize with the predicament. However, as you are well aware, there are options.
Hopefully, democracy will stand in our little city of Menlo Park.
