Members of the City Council,
As a Menlo Park resident and a downtown business owner, I strongly oppose the proposed high-density low-income housing on the City Parking Lots.
This development will negatively impact the downtown businesses which rely on close, convenient parking. It will also cause overcrowding and crime in the neighboring residential areas. It will alter the Citys tax base.
The City should consider the parking lot at Burgess Park or other areas that will have less impact on the businesses and neighborhoods. Developments of this type should be along El Camino and areas already designed for high density.
