Oppose Main Library Project - Support Green Building Standards - Support County Bike/Ped

Dear Councilmembers,We oppose the proposal to build a new central library at this time. Our general thoughts on this: * The main
library works fine; replacement is not a priority
* Belle
Haven needs a new library
* Resources
are scarce and should be focused on the most pressing needs, especially transportation safety/congestion, affordable housing
and the environment
* Main
library project creates unnecessary debt for the city
* Menlo Park
needs to commit to a smaller number of large projects that can be accomplished more efficiently, and get them right the first
time. Attempting to process many large projects at the same time strains staff, community (and council), leads to project
fatigue with poor community input, suboptimal outcomes for the entire city.

We strongly support modern green building standards for all municipal projects.Finally, we support increasing the funding in the
San Mateo County transportation ballot measure allocated to bike/pedestrian projects to 10% by decreasing the amount spent on
highway projects. County bike/ped funding is badly needed to address major safety gaps.Thank you,Betsy and Horace Nash
