To the Menlo Park Council
1-I am in my 18th year of living in Menlo Park. I love our city.
2-I use the library quite a lot.........not so much to borrow books but to read journals and use the desk space for working in a
peaceful location.
3-I have not been aware of a rush hour effect at any time.....I do not remember ever seeing lines of people to ask questions or
check outbooks. I find there is always plenty of desk/table locations to choose from.
In other words, I can not see, from my perspective, any reason for a new library and - as a tax payer- I would not vote for any
bond which would cause my/our tax money to go towards building or maintaining such a project which I feel is not necessary.
4-I most probably have donated over 150 books, CD's, videos to the library when I moved from my house to the townhouse;
Summary: my library visits show me that the current facility is quite adequate for the city's needs
May I thank the Council for taking a measured approach to-what in theory sounds like a great financial offer- but on reflection I
think has several additional costs.--
