The New Guild project

Dear City Council Members - I wanted to drop you a note to tell you first off how much I appreciate the council making this
project a priority. Menlo Park has for too long suffered as a sleepy and quiet spot on the peninsula, bereft of the sort of
cultural and musical entertainment that it’s citizens deserve.
As I’ve shared with you in previous communications, I’ve spent the better part of the last 30 years charging up to the Fillmore,
driving to the Warfield, driving to the Fox theater in Oakland, driving to the Paramount in Oakland, and driving to the Great
American Music Hall in San Francisco in order to scratch my musical itch. Why should all of those communities be the beneficiaries
of my entertainment dollars?
Wouldn’t it be terrific if instead, Menlo Park actually became a destination, rather than a jumping off point, when it comes to
entertainment of all sorts and kinds?
We can do this. This can be a resounding success. And if we do make it happen, the ghost of Jerry Garcia will be looking down from
above and smiling in the knowledge that the true initial home of the Grateful Dead in 1965 - downtown Menlo Park - will be Hittin’
The Note once again....
Let’s Do This!!!
