I've communicated my strong support for this project a few times over the past few months, but I understand that the final Council
vote is scheduled for next Tuesday. I intended to be there, but my kids have a middle school band concert that evening, so.... :-)
We've lived in Menlo Park for 8 years now and love it. That said, while there have been a few encouraging changes to the downtown
(sidewalk dining and the opening of Coffeebar and announced Camper restaurant), Palo Alto, Los Altos, San Mateo, Burlingame, and
other nearby small cities continue to "win" when we're considering dining and entertainment options. In that time, RWC has made
huge strides in comparison.
From my perspective, the New Guild is a chance to change that.A theatre offering entertainment, cultural vibrancy, dinner
customers for restaurants, a community events, and movies is exactly the boost that downtown Menlo Park needs and deserves.
