Dear hard working Council,
I’d like to express my continued support for the New Guild. I wrote similar notes in January and February, but with the project on
the Agenda tonight in the Public Hearing section, I wanted to reiterate my past stance.
This project would be great for our community. It would benefit residents of all ages who would be able to attend first class
entertainment shows, within walking stance to many. It would benefit local merchants who would no doubt use their expertise to
leverage the increased numbers of visitors to our downtown into more success for their businesses. And it would benefit our City
as a whole, as we attempt to close the “vibrancy gap” with the dynamic downtowns of Redwood City and Palo Alto.
I’ve been a resident (and more recently a business owner) of Menlo Park since 2001 as an “adult,” but grew up here (attending
Laurel, Encinal and Menlo School), so I do understand what makes our town tick - we could really use The New Guild.
