Dear City Council members,
As a Menlo Park resident, I am asking you to please reconsider the plan for additional housing in the downtown Menlo Park parking lots. It is already extremely difficult to find parking in certain locations especially near the post office and hardware store, and behind Carpaccio, and Touch of Elegance off Crane. There is only one handicapped spot in a number of these locations as well and Id like to request that we add additional handicap spots instead of adding additional EV charging stations.
I support having parklets on Santa Cruz Ave but only if we keep the back parking lots, since the parking on Santa Cruz Avenue is extremely limited. I often have to park in the back parking lots even to go to Starbucks, Trader Joe’s and the farmers’ market. This plan for housing will significantly impact the downtown businesses ,as well as change the entire atmosphere of downtown affecting all MP residents.
Perhaps design the old Sunset location for all housing instead of including hotel and office spaces.
Thank you for your consideration.
