Dear City Council members—
First, thank you very much for your service to our city.
Second, I am writing to let you know I support plans to build a new Main Library in Menlo Park, as well as a new branch library in
Belle Haven. As the plans to build a new Main Library are much closer to being a reality, I urge you to vote in favor of
proceeding with the next phase of that project.
Many Bay Area cities and towns have already built libraries that have become centers not just for books and reading, but for
meeting and collaboration spaces for all segments of the community, places for children, adolescents and teens to meet and be
inspired to learn, as well as large conference centers for all to use. Menlo Park has a chance to bring our libraries into the
current century, and we should take this opportunity to do so. We have a very large private donation from John Arrillaga that will
give us a tremendous boost and help us to achieve our goal of modern libraries. If we don’t accept this donation, building new
libraries will take much longer and cost substantially more.
I recently toured the new library in San Diego, which has become a thriving city community center. Our small town would benefit
greatly from such a resource. Please take advantage of the opportunity we have in front of us right now!
Thank you very much,Leigh Flesher664 Creek DriveMenlo Park, CA 94025
