Dear Members of the Menlo Park Planning Commission and City Council:
I am writing to urge each of you, and the City’s leadership and planning specialists, to continue to support and approve plans for
The New Guild. The prospect of a high-end venue for live music, art, performance and entertainment in our town is really exciting
to me and, to everyone else I mention this project to! There is no place on the Peninsula that can offer what this venue will
provide. We live in a music-dessert. I’m sure each of you have noticed it. Let’s end the drought and grow an awesome place that
will help transform people in our area through exposure to a diverse menu of live entertainment. Why should town folk and our
peninsula neighbors need to travel to Santa Cruz or San Francisco for a first-rate pop culture experience? That dilemma will be a
thing of the past if this project can just be moved forward. I am a resident of MP and a life-long fan of live music and
entertainment. I also care deeply about our community and want to see it continue to prosper and grow. I’m mindful of the
questions that some might have, perhaps about parking and carrying capacity. Yet, this location has the parking and town resources
that will minimize any burden. I’ve always enjoyed the Guild for movies and appreciate the feel of the old space. There is
tremendous potential inside those four walls, and I can only begin to imagine how it will be! The Guild can be an integral part of
the continued emergence of downtown MP as place for neighbors, residents and people on the Peninsula to visit, enjoy, and
importantly, spend money. I hope you do your part to make it happen.
