Downtown Specific Plan - Community Benefits

Dear City Council Members,
As we all know, Menlo Park has had an exceptional level of growth since the adoption of the Downtown Specific Plan in 2012.
Unfortunately, the benefits yielded to the community during this period have not kept pace. Please review a short slide deck I
have put together outlining our progress. Note that while I have populated the "progress" fields on the slides with my own
assessments, your own analysis may differ. The important thing is not that we agree completely, but that you consider the progress
in these areas.

During this biennial review of the DSP, we have an opportunity to not only review and assess how much development has and should
occur, but also how much assumed benefit we have received and should expect.
I urge you to think beyond Staff's questions posed in their report and instead ask yourselves, "Over the past 5+ years, has the
public gotten what it was promised, and if not, how and when will we provide it?"
I'm sure others will advocate for housing, some will want parking, and as always, I will continue to want Safe Routes, but my
focus here is on the benefits for all people in Downtown.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,Jen--
