Please be advised that I don’t live in Menlo Park but shop, frequent restaurants and use attorney and other professional services in Menlo Park. I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the idea of converting surface parking into low income housing.
I spend many thousands of dollars with your merchants, restaurants and professional services each year and further the thing that makes this possible is the existing surface parking as I am handicapped and considerably less mobile than most. These lots and consequent ease of physical access make this particular part of your city a go to place for my wife and I. This ill conceived idea of eliminating the existing parking will make our continued use of merchants and professional services impossible. So,if the parking goes away so do we.
In general, I believe there are better locations for the State mandated housing plan if actually necessary at all. Remember that the plan itself is the product of a virtually incompetent state government whose ideas are so manifestly being exposed at this moment as the fires rage in Southern California.
Also, I believe that should this project be approved in its present form in this proposed location it will immediately becomes a wind tunnel in a lightless sea of unhappiness such that it will become an immediate economic and crime ridden slum.
The proposed density is not sustainable in this location any more than the negative economic impact it will bring to your business community.
