To Whom it may concern;
I am a resident of Menlo Park & have been living here in my home since 1974. I have seen too many unfortunate changes sweeping our little city, so many that it’s hardly recognizable anymore. This low income housing proposal in our parking lots is a HORRIBLE idea & would be the death knell of Santa Cruz Ave.
It’s negative impact will only increase the challenges so many residents ALREADY struggle with: inadequate parking, loss of businesses who have been forced to close due to extension of dining areas to outdoor sidewalk & street, or who simply can’t survive the high rents & have been forced to close or move elsewhere.
Little by little city government has transformed & chipped away at the heart of Santa Cruz Ave. This will be its death knell. Those areas are NOT SURPLUS land! Traffic impact studies? Parking to replace the spaces that will disappear in building areas proposed? Senior citizen accessibility to local services?
Utterly mindless, destructive proposal which will KILL the heart of Menlo Park. Stop this!!
