Honorable Menlo Park City Council,
Dear Council,
I support building new affordable homes downtown and I urge you to do the same on January 14th.
We all know the reasons why new, affordable housing is necessary for our community. I believe the downtown area is ideal for such housing. It is close to transit and shopping and will help invigorate our sleepy retail and entertainment core.
I do not believe there is a parking crisis downtown. I have lived in MP for over 25 years and frequently shop at TJ’s, Draeger’s or CVS, attend exercise classes at Barre3 or enjoy music at The Guild and I never have trouble finding a space within a block
of my destination.
As long as public parking is replaced at current levels I see no reason why additional homes will cause any issues for people coming into the area. New, dedicated parking for residents can be included in new structures as it has been at Springline and other
new developments.
Please vote "yes" to new affordable homes downtown on January 14th.
