The area outside of Peets on Middle Ave is littered with cigarette
butts. Since the "new" Safeway opened in 2007, this area has been used
as a smoking area, most likely by employees from Safeway and other
businesses in the complex. I have previously complained about the
cigarette butts left behind but the problem persists. Smoking in this
area almost certainly violates Menlo Park's smoking ordinance. Smoking
and the associated litter should also violate Safeway's use permit. I
urge the City, Safeway, and Peets to address this problem asap.
