I strongly urge the city council to proceed with its exploration for affordable housing on city lots 1, 2, and 3 at tonights meeting. It would be helpful if the council could make clear that all of the housing constructed at these sites is not to be affordable at below market rates.
To reduce loss of local business during construction, would it be possible to stagger construction of units by not destroying all three parking areas at once?
The addition of affordable units would make our community more vibrant and attract more people to work in Menlo Park. It would also reduce the need for parking by those who already work downtown but must commute by car from far away.
