Our family has lived at 2140 Clayton since 1973--45 years. We have seen the increase in traffic on the Alameda and the addition of several homes on Clayton Drive that have increased traffic on Clayton Drive. When cars are parked close to Clayton Drive on the Alameda it is very hard to exit Clayton Drive because of a lack of visibility, especially to cars coming from the south. An additional issue is that may school children ride their bikes on the Clayton Drive side of the Alameda in the opposite direction to get to La Entrada school. (They do so because the sidewalk is too narrow to ride on and there is over growth of shrubs, etc.). This presents a serious safety hazard. On several occasion I have come close to hitting children on their bicycles coming from the south.
I am writing this to you so that it goes on the record that residents of Clayton Drive have requested several times that the curb be painted red to keep cars from creating this hazard and you have refused to take action. It is only a matter of time before there is an injury related accident as a result of your failure to correct this issue. I intend to make sure that the city is held legally liable when this occurs, and I have copied the city council and the Mayor on this email.
This is such a simple request and I cannot understand your lack of action.
