I urge you to proceed with the opportunity to build affordable housing on the city owned parking lots downtown.
This is an unique opportunity to have affordable housing close to transit and downtown shopping.
While parking will likely be a problem in the foreseeable future, there would appear to be ways to mitigate the impact of using the space for housing.
I recall, in the not-to-distant past, parking in these lots was more time restricted than it is now. Ensuring folks have parking for shopping (no more than an hour) would help.
We regularly shop in the downtown area and have never had a problem parking.
Thanks for your consideration.
