I am writing to express my concern about the process by which the City Council is assessing new housing developments and increased density. While I strongly support the creation of new housing and understand the importance of increased density to address our community’s needs, I believe greater transparency and inclusivity in the decision-making process are crucial.
My concern stems from a personal experience with a proposed development near our property. We approached the city to share our input and express concerns, but unfortunately, we received no response or acknowledgment. This lack of engagement left us feeling excluded from a process that has a significant impact on our neighborhood and property. I hope the Council will take steps to ensure that community feedback is not only welcomed but actively sought and incorporated moving forward.
It is essential that existing homeowners and residents feel their concerns are heard and thoughtfully addressed. Decisions impacting neighborhood character, infrastructure, and quality of life should be made collaboratively, ensuring that both current and future community members benefit from these developments.
I urge the Council to adopt a more transparent approach, clearly communicating the factors considered in planning and demonstrating how community feedback is incorporated. Such steps will not only build trust but also foster a stronger, more united community.
