First off, thank you for taking the time to read this email. My name is Ryan Baker and I have been a resident of Menlo Park and Atherton since 1974. I’ve seen this area go through many changes. One of the constants has been the Guild theater in Menlo Park. From fond memories seeing movies there as a child to enjoying the camaraderie of a Rocky Horror Picture Show crowd, I have enjoyed it all!
As a big fan of live performances, especially music, I wholeheartedly support any venture that would promote more live music being brought to Menlo Park. As much as I venture into San Francisco to see shows at the Fillmore, Warfield, Independent and other venues it would be amazing to have a world class venue so close to home. These days I often find myself enjoying dinner in nearby cities as opposed to MP. There’s no question that if there was a music venue in MP, many of those dinners would be spent in MP for ease of travel/convenience sake. I, and many Menlo Park resident’s I’m friends with, believe that while breathing life into Menlo Park’s cultural scene, any music/performance venue would also help positively energize the community as a whole.
