Dear Mayor Ohtaki and City Council Members,

Thank you for prioritizing development of Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging standards for new developments. Supporting EV is an
important way to transition our city away from Fossil Fuels, towards a more sustainable future.

As you may know, in 2014 the City of Palo Alto adopted EV charging requirements that have successfully been implemented and serve
as a great model for other cities. In particular, I support theMulti-family residentialrequirement for one EV charger for each
housing unit. This is so important for Menlo Park because most EV owners prefer to charge at home overnight, which is the lowest
cost option.

Menlo Park has some of the highest purchasing rates of EVs (~ 15% of new vehicles are electric!), yet apartment & condo buildings
generally lack charging infrastructure, which is a major barrier for tenants to have EVs. Cities across the country are making
progress to support a decarbonized future - let's add Menlo Park to the list to support residents like me that are interested in
making the switch as soon as we can charge at home!

I hope the City of Menlo Park will move forward quickly with EV Charging requirements similar to Pal Alto. I appreciate the
efforts of the city to support EVs as an effective way to cut greenhouse gas and air pollution!

Sincerely, Erin Cooke (Allied Arts)
