Dear Menlo Park City Council Members:
I wholeheartedly support the Peninsula Arts Guild proposal for transforming the Guild Theater into a state-of-the-art
entertainment venue. Downtown Menlo Park has been doing a nice job of trying to reinvent itself by adding outdoor seating, some
shops previously only in San Francisco, and now Truckee’s Coffee Bar, which our family visits regularly in Truckee, and can now
patronize at home too. The addition of the Peninsula Arts Guild fills the gap in an area that Menlo Park has lacked — a community
gathering spot, be it for school plays / performances, Kepler’s author talks that draw larger crowds than they can handle, to
comedians, lecturers and top notch bands. The vision for the Peninsula Arts Guild reminds me of what the New Varsity once was for
Palo Alto -- a cool gathering spot for the young and old alike, with varied and interesting events. How I long for such a spot in
this area again.
I have known Drew Dunlevie for over 10 years, as a neighbor and a friend. I am positive there is no more capable person, with
intelligence and compassion, to have a vision that will benefit many, and the ability to successfully execute on it. I was not
able to attend the City Council meeting this past week to express my support in person. Please accept this email as a testament to
my wholehearted and enthusiastic support for this project, run by Drew and his colleagues.
If there is anything further I can to do support this proposal moving forward, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Sincerely,
