Dear Council,
I am an 8 year resident of Menlo Park and recently read about the “Save the Guild” proposal to renovate the site for art films
while adding musical performances, etc. We've all seen evidence of the fate of single-screen art house theaters like the Guild and
the Park over the past years, so I am asking that you make every effort to make review and approval of this project a high Council
priority.
According to the Almanac article earlier this week, Menlo Park is one of a small number of potential sites/communities for this
exciting entertainment venue. As I commented on that story: "This is exactly what downtown Menlo Park needs. We've lived here for
eight years and I've watched Redwood City, San Carlos, and other similar cities offer more attractive reasons to visit their
downtowns than anything available here. There's obviously a balance to be struck between retaining the "feel" and history of a
place and changing to grow as a community, and this project satisfies both sides of that equation."
This is a rare opportunity.
Please help make this project become a reality for your constituents.
