Dear Menlo Park City Council,
I'm writing in support of including Sharon Road sidewalks in your work plan for the year. As the Safe Routes to School liaison to
La Entrada Middle School, and a resident near Sharon Road, I want you ensure that you are aware that this project is extremely
important to the community.
There's a lot of traffic on a single block of Sharon Road leading to La Entrada school, between Alameda and Altschul. Every
morning and afternoon, school children, and their parents, babysitters, and grandparents, walk through a muddy or dusty shoulder
area. They dodge puddles, parked cars, and garbage cans while trying to stay out of the path of traffic.
The Las Lomitas school district has done its part by adding as many bus stops as possible so that children are safe. However, it
is the last block to school for many and there is literally no way to avoid the squeeze of the traffic.
This is a very dangerous situation for our children and our entire community. The Menlo Park City Council knows that traffic here
is increasing and our schools are fuller than ever. This one small project will make an immeasurable improvement to our city.
Please make a commitment to this project now.
Sincerely,
Hilary ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
