I would like to strongly encourage the city council to consider and implement a safer crossing at Middlefield and Santa
Monica/Linfield. I have often observed pedestrians and families with young children attempting cross four lanes of traffic, which
seems to be traveling at well over the posted speed limit. I also have attempted to cross at the lighted crosswalk only to find
that not all drivers yield to pedestrians.
Far too often, I have observed drivers failing to yield to pedestrians - in fact, last week, 3 out of 4 lanes of traffic stopped
to allow a mother and her two children cross the street, however, one driver blew through the intersection and did not yield to
the pedestrians, despite the blinking lights in the crosswalk.
By the way, these issues are not limited to the intersection on Middlefield and Linfield - the same thing happens at the crosswalk
at Ravenswood and Alma.
I get that our police officers are busy dealing with a lot of issues across the city however, we need to have a better traffic
enforcement policy before a tragedy occurs.--
