Dear Council,
I was surprised to see that there is debate over the closure of Santa Cruz Ave. Please keep it closed. In fact, please consider closing more of the street and making it for pedestrians only, with a bike lane. Cities that have done this are thriving and vibrant. It’s quite easy to get to downtown businesses in a car via Oak Grove or Menlo Ave and I look forward to parking in garages once they are built. It seems that some people want downtown Menlo Park to be Atherton’s downtown—dull, high end shops with very customers. The Atherton (Menlo Park??) Design District does not have the best interests of Menlo Park in mind. Let’s build a Menlo Park for the future, not get stuck in the past.
