City Council Public comment 2/11 Street Resurfacing

Dear City Council,

Im writing to express support to implement the Transportation Master Plan, Vision Zero Action Plan, AB 413 - Daylighting law, and traffic calming needs with street resurfacing.

Woodland Ave is up for resurfacing this year. As a part of this work, Im hoping that a sidewalk meeting the Menlo Park Walkway Standards CG-1 can be included. CG-1 states, "The walkway standard in front of or contiguous to any particular property shall be that standard which most nearly matches the existing improvements in the neighborhood". The other streets in the Willows neighborhood have sidewalks.

Ive been walking and cycling on Woodland from my home in the Willows for 37 years. Its the most direct way to walk to downtown Palo Alto and I see many others walking and running along it. Walking along it feels hazardous however, especially at night as portions are not lit, and it is curvy with poor sightlines. When its raining, you have a choice between walking in puddles or out on the roadway.

Sincerely,

Tom Cooper,
