Greetings to the Menlo Park City Council,
We are pleased to know that an agenda item at tonight’s meeting pertains to possibly revisiting the long term strategy regarding the 600 block of Santa Cruz Ave.
We encourage the entire City Council to take up an open-minded discussion of the need for a review. In particular, we encourage the Council to consider that right-sizing the outdoor dining space and the adjacent public market space in that block in order to allow northbound traffic flow needn’t require the full elimination of such spaces.
In short, there may be a win-win solution for the Downtown businesses, the market vendors/customers, Downtown retail shoppers/diners and those who wish for fewer Downtown traffic detours and backups. With further review the City might find a path to such a solution.
