Dear Council Members,
As chairperson of The Main Gallery, located on Santa Cruz Avenue and a member of the Menlo Park Design District, I strongly urge you to reopen Santa Cruz Avenue.
The closure makes it more difficult for customers to shop downtown and that hurts all of the retail businesses, while benefitting only a few restaurants. If potential customers find the closure annoying, they will shop elsewhere next time.
I’m sure you’re aware of the number of businesses that have closed on Santa Cruz Avenue. It is your responsibility to do what you can to stem the tide by improving the environment. The businesses comprising the Menlo Park Design District, the lifeblood of downtown, have contributed time and resources to promote the retail environment and ask for your support.
Show that you care about the downtown. Vote to reopen Santa Cruz Avenue.
