We are writing to request that you consider stricter measures to limit (hopefully ban completely someday) the use of gas-powered leaf blowers.
It doesn't seem like the problems they create need repeating.
A few ideas we had -
- on Spare the Air days, when their user is prohibited, why not fine the property owner rather than the gardener. This way the police do not have to get to the site while the action is underway. Instead, someone could simply send a picture or video, and the fine could even be mailed.
After all, isn't the proper maintenance of the property the responsibility of the owner? It seems unrealistic for gardeners to keep track of all the local laws.
Also we noticed that Redwood City is offering a rebate for people who replace gas-powered with electric blowers. This seems like a good idea.
