I have shopped on Santa Cruz Ave. for twenty years. Obviously during that time I have occasionally seen homeless people on Santa Cruz Ave. and elsewhere in the Bay Area. However, I have never observed a homeless person claim a bench located on Santa Cruz Ave @ Evelyn St. as her home. There is a female white adult that lives on that bench. She has over six Draeger shopping carts with her belongings that are often covered with blue tarps. I have compassion for people who struggle in life as I’m sure the city council also cares for these people. However, allowing anyone to claim that bench as their home is not right. It’s not good for the businesses on Santa Cruz Ave. and it’s not good for that woman. Someone or some organization should help that woman. It’s a disgrace that no one has addressed her living there for over the last six months. I hope someone on the council can use the city resources and make a difference. Thanks.
