Dear City Council,
I am not seeing climate action on the city's priority list.
It should be. Menlo Park has shown itself to be a leader on climate on reach codes banning fossil fuels in new buildings. Many cities are now looking to our city for more leadership on climate. We owe it to those cities, the state, and most importantly our children, to continue to lead on climate. If we don't, nothing else will matter. We'll be devastated by more wildfires. People in Belle Haven will lose their homes as the sea level rises to the point that East Menlo Park is no longer habitable.
This is literally the most important thing you can do. There will always be matters that feel more urgent, but if we don't lead on climate at the same time, we're ignoring the very thing that will make all else irrelevant.
To do otherwise is to focus on the leaky faucets while the house is on fire.
