Im writing to support downtown housing.
We moved to Menlo Park in 2020 after living in Redwood City for 20 years.
I remember how strange it first seemed when downtown RWC was rebuilt in the early 2000s. It seemed like a disaster at first because we could only see what was being lost, but now its a thriving neighborhood we enjoy visiting, with restaurants, businesses, higher density urban style housing, the library, parks, theater, lots of community events etc.
Obviously our Menlo Park downtown development plans also now seem strange to some of our residents, who also maybe are only seeing what they worry that we will lose. But if we just give it a chance and some time, we could have a thriving downtown too.
