Dear Menlo Park City Council Members,
I wish to add my voice to the concerns about fire safety posed by the fact that there is currently only one access point to the planned development via Sheridan Drive. This seems extremely unwise and may endanger the safety of future residents. Additionally, If there are to be PG&E power lines crossing above Sheridan Drive at the entrance, these lines may interfere with a future fire response which will lead to a truly hazardous situation.
I am strongly in support of teacher housing; and am not trying to interfere with this housing project, however, I do wish to improve the project for the future residents and all neighbors. I strongly endorse the requirement for the developer to research and design a second entrance to the project at 320 Sheridan Drive. A second entrance was included in their initial plan, but it has changed to a locked gate only accessible by MPFD, and not usable by the residents. This is of grave concern. A second entrance could serve as an escape road in the case of emergency and would enhance the safety of residents and the neighbors of the new development.
Please add this extra level of safety to the new development
Thank you so much for your kind attention.
Sincerely,
Janet Vaewsorn
