Dear City Council-
As a 54 year Menlo Park local (born and raised here) and a Hedge Road resident for 18 years, I am writing to encourage you to reconsider the current design of the 320 Sheridan housing project with only one vehicular entrance. The current design is dangerous and is ill conceived in my opinion.
I understand the benefit of the project to the greater community but feel that the lack of a second unlocked egress point is dangerous and inconvenient to the current and future residents of our community. Adding more traffic to an overloaded Bay Road is going to be a real problem. In addition, if Atherton places some of their housing element housing along Bay Road by the intersection of Bay/Ringwood we will have near gridlock in the morning and evening commute hours.
Additionally, I imagine most of the future residents of the development would be traveling south to their work locations. Being able to head directly south out of the project (without having to navigate the Bay/Ringwood intersection) would be a huge advantage to them and would help mitigate the already heavy traffic in the area.
Thank you,
Charles Shenk
