Dear City Councilmembers,
I am a resident of the Suburban Park neighborhood in Menlo Park and am in favor of the appeal filed by Skip Hilton regarding the project at 320 Sheridan Drive. Specifically, I hope that the Developer will be required to research and design a second entrance to the project. It is my understanding that a second entrance was included in the initial plan, but it has since been changed to a locked gate only accessible by MPFD, and not usable by future residents of 320 Sheridan Drive.
As such, it is also my understanding that if the project is built as currently designed, ALL of the commute access will be via Hedge Road (a slow neighborhood street) and then on to Bay Road (an already heavily trafficked road during commute/school drop off hours that backs-up in either direction, towards either Marsh or the stop sign at Ringwood). Anyone who exits Suburban Park by turning from Greenwood onto Bay during morning rush hour will understand this very real challenge - I experience it every morning!
I really hope you will support the development of a second entrance to the 320 Sheridan Drive project in order to improve the access and traffic flow around the area.
Thank you for your consideration,
Eleanor de Jong
