Oppose TR ordinance

Dear Council Member,

My immigrant grandparents realized their dream and bought a property in Menlo Park in 1947. My grandfather remodeled the existing
two structures and made a beautiful home. Their goal was to provide economic security for themselves, and for their only daughter,
my mother, by creating some rental property income. My mother is 94 years old, lives in Menlo Park and counts on this rental
income to support herself.

Your proposed ordinance will interfere with the right we deserve to use and manage our property in the way we see fit to support
my elderly mother at the end of her life.

Rent control is bad policy. It will hurt us. We are not responsible for the lack of housing stock in the area. Don’t penalize us
small owners who are good, reasonable landlords and want to use our property to support the needs of our own family.

I implore you to abandon enacting any form of rent control. Extract the remedy from all the corporate interests thriving in Menlo
Park.

People work a lifetime to prepare for their economic security at the end of their lives. Please allow us to use our assets in the
way we need without government hindrance, and economic constraint.

NO RENT CONTROL IN MENLO PARK

Sincerely,

Paula Macchello
