Affordable Housing Project

Dear City Council Members,

As an employee of the Ravenswood City School District, I urge you to approve the 320 Sheridan Drive Affordable Housing Project. Our educators and school staff play a vital role in shaping the future of Menlo Park, yet many of us struggle to afford housing in the very community we serve. Approving this project would provide much-needed affordable homes, allowing more of our districts employees to live near their workplace, reducing commute times, and strengthening the bonds between schools and the families we support. Strong schools are the foundation of a thriving community, and when educators and staff can live where they work, student outcomes improve, and neighborhoods become more connected.

The housing crisis in Menlo Park is a reality that cannot be ignored. The high cost of living forces many essential workers, including teachers, administrators, and support staff, to seek housing far from their jobs, contributing to traffic congestion and reducing the quality of life for those who make our schools successful. The proposed 320 Sheridan Drive project directly addresses this issue by providing 88 affordable housing units, ensuring that more members of our school district can remain part of the community they serve. I respectfully ask the City Council to uphold the Planning Commissions approval and move this project forward without delay.

Sincerely,

Steve Baker
