My name is Stacy Goldman - I am a resident of Menlo Park since 2007 and the mother of a 13 and 16 year old in the Menlo Park school systems. I am typically in downtown MP at least once a day (pre and post covid) in grocery stores, restaurants, banks, etc.
I would implore you to PLEASE keep streets closed to encourage residents to dine safely outside and discourage indoor congregation. This provides both a lifeline to the restaurants we desperately want to keep, and to the sanity of your residents. Most Menlo Park residents do not care about keeping MP as the furniture destination of the Peninsula, but want to enjoy it as their local downtown community hub.
I have not had any significant parking problems even with streets closed. I do think a compromise can be reached for stores who feel the blocked streets is hurting them, but especially through spring and while vaccines are slow to roll out, please keep this open for us.
