Honorable Mayor and City Council members,
This is to urge you to please affirm your commitment to advance the Climate Action Plan.
People are looking to Menlo Park to lead on climate.
At stake in particular is Belle Haven and our businesses along the bay - all at increased risk for rising sea levels.
The entire city is at risk for wildfires/smoke and drought.
Immediate benefits of climate action and cutting emissions, especially cutting gasoline consumption, are cleaner air and water - why should we settle for any more cases of asthma, cancer, heart and lung disease from especially vehicle emissions than is absolutely necessary? Why should we continue to allow motor oil and gasoline leaks and spills to contaminate our waters?
Please, please put climate first. If we don't lead on this, soon nothing else will matter.
