As Menlo Park residents of Felton Gables, we would like to express our strong encouragement that Menlo Park seriously consider Train Quiet Zones. We moved to Menlo Park a few years ago in hopes of raising our family here. We are thrilled to be so near terrific schools, and to have such an incredible community. One of the most challenging parts of living here is the proximity to the train and the negative impacts of the loud whistles at every train crossing late into the evening, resuming very early in the morning. With two young children, the train whistles disrupt their sleep every night. We thought we would get used to it, but that hasn't happened. It is distinctly disruptive to our daily lives. It is a significant factor in considering a move out of the area.
We appreciate and value the importance of safety at these crossings and hope there is a possible solution that minimizes community disruption while ensuring safe crossing measures are in place.
