Dear Council Members: I am writing to urge the City Council to reject the Arrillaga donation to construct a new main library for Menlo Park. Rather, I believe that the Council should attempt to redirect the donation and/or use other funds to create a full-service library in Belle Haven. My understanding is that the current Belle Haven library is located within a school, thus limiting access to residents, and also is by no means a full-service facility. I live in the Willows, not Belle Haven, but am well aware of the income and social services disparity between Belle Haven and the rest of the City. Having a full-service library in Belle Haven could, for example, play a role in offsetting the relative low quality of schools in BH. Thank you for your support of ALL citizens of Menlo Park.
