Request to join EPA-SRTS walk audit tomorrow (3/19) at 7:30am at CCRMS (2450 Ralmar Ave) to observe morning school drop-off and traffic through Menlo Park-side Ralmar Ave. corridor single-entrance into school. DETAILS BELOW:
Good morning City Council and Complete Streets Commissioners,
My name is Tonga Victoria, and I serve as a Commissioner for the East Palo Alto Public Works & Transportation Commission and Co-Chair of our City of East Palo Alto Safe Routes to School project team.
One of our top priorities for our project is Ralmar Avenue, specifically the northern end within Menlo Park. As you may know, the Girls’ Club of the Mid-Peninsula owns the private lot that serves as the only entrance to Cesar Chavez Ravenswood Middle School through an easement.
Unfortunately, this area poses serious traffic and safety issues impacting both East Palo Alto and Menlo Park families. Although the right side of Ralmar was once red-curbed to prevent parking, it was later painted over, and cars now park there regularly. This has led to congestion, poor visibility, and hazardous conditions for students walking and biking to school — especially during pick-up and drop-off times.
Given how many of our students and families cross between our cities daily, I would like to invite you all to attend our walk audit this week, March 19 from 7:30-9:30am. Here are the details below:
We don’t have a flyer since it’s an internal walk audit, however here are the details below!
When: Wednesday March 19
Time: 7:30am-9am
Where: Cesar Chavez Ravenswood Middle School (2450 Ralmar Ave)
Meet: In the front of CCRMS (Bay Road). We’ll walk over to the Ralmar corridor entrance together to perform that section of walk audit. Joining us will also be the CCRMS Principal and our other SRTS Project Team members!
Again, thank you for your interest in joining us for this important walk audit! I am hoping we can build impact for both EPA / MP families together!
Please let me know if you have more questions!
warm regards,
tonga victoria
