Dear Menlo Park City Council,
I’m writing to you as the Chair of the EQC on behalf of the entire commission. In collaborating with city staff to put forward a recommendation regarding EV charging at multi-family units it came to our attention we have limited means of communication with multi-family unit owners. It’s our understanding that the only means of communication between the city and the multi-family unit owners is postal mail.
While this issue may not appear to be within the preview of the EQC, it came to our attention when we were exploring recommendations at your direction regarding EV charging at multi-family units and marketing the finance incentives currently available. With such limited means of information, the city has few options to engage with these constitutes which place them at a disadvantage.
We learned the city staff have asked for additional contact information from other bodies (e.g. San Mateo County and Recology), however, they have been unable to obtain additional information.
Multi-family unit owners are an important part of our community and we would like to see the city take steps to obtain additional contact information including email address and phone numbers to ease communication with these constituents.
