Dear Council …
Many residents don’t have the time or have conflicts to attend live sessions of Council meetings.
They rely on the published minutes and the video recording of the meetings.
1) Yet, there is a very large time gap between the Council meetings and the publication of the minutes. (screenshot attached).
2) As to to access to the recording, they are not timely available and one has to 1) sign in (with a business address no less - WHY?), and 2) chose from future dates to view the already occurred meetings. (screenshot attached) As can be noted from the screenshots, the first opportunity to view the recording for the meeting that took place on 1/12/2021 is 3/23/2021, more than two months.
UNLESS, they are also available somewhere other than where one would expect to find them: The City Council Meetings page which has the agenda and minutes.
There is no reason that an archived video has to be “broadcast” at a future date instead of simply making it available (like posting it to a YouTube-like channel for the City).
Timely access to these recordings are of great importances even when the minutes are published because the minutes are very brief and most often residents need to review them in the context of the actual discussions.
I urge the Council to direct Staff to be more diligent in publication of minutes and recordings and their accessibility.
